Oral Health Promotion Resource
Sugar reduction has a clear role to play in maintaining oral health in children. Public Health England has produced the Top Tips for Teeth dental toolkit to support dental professionals in communicating good dental practise to parents in bite size chunks.
The resources feature three key tips for parents:
Be sugar smart – make healthier food and drink choices by swapping out sugar.
Visit the dentist regularly – parents might not realise that trips to an NHS dentist are free for pregnant women and anyone under the age of 18 (19 if in full time education).
Brush your teeth twice a day – plus tips for tooth brushing, recommended toothpaste amounts and the positive effects of fluoride.
On the School Zone website, you will also find Keeping our teeth healthy resources to support healthy dental habits in KS1 and KS2 students.
Ordering resources for NHS dental practices
If you are an NHS dental practice, a free physical toolkit is also available to order for a limited time. This can be ordered here
Please note that orders will only be fulfilled to NHS dental practices due to limited availability. Only one kit per dental practice will be available to ensure fair distribution across the country.
